Allied Universal Electronic Monitoring is a leading manufacturer of GPS monitoring devices. Due to organizational changes, we are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Buyer to join our team and play a critical role in our procurement process. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of successfully sourcing materials, negotiating contracts, and managing supplier relationships within a manufacturing environment.

Job Summary:

The Buyer is responsible for procuring materials, components, and services necessary for production while ensuring timely delivery, competitive pricing, and quality standards are met. This role involves collaborating with various departments, including production, engineering, and quality control, to understand their needs and source the best possible solutions.

Responsibilities:

  • Identify and evaluate potential suppliers, negotiate contracts, and purchase materials, components, and services in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers, monitor supplier performance, and address any issues or concerns.
  • Analyze market trends, identify cost-saving opportunities, and negotiate favorable pricing and terms with suppliers. Continuously seek ways to reduce costs without compromising quality or delivery.
  • Collaborate with production planning to ensure optimal inventory levels are maintained, minimizing stock outs and excess inventory.
  • Work closely with quality control to ensure purchased materials meet required specifications and quality standards.
  • Process purchase orders, track shipments, and ensure timely delivery of materials. Resolve any discrepancies in orders or deliveries.
  • Maintain accurate records of purchases, supplier performance, and pricing trends. Prepare reports and analyze data to identify areas for improvement.
  • Adhere to all relevant regulations and company policies related to procurement and ethical sourcing.
  • Work closely with other departments, such as production, engineering, and finance, to understand their needs and ensure smooth procurement processes.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and effectiveness of the procurement function.

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field preferred. High School diploma and 5 years as a Buyer may be considered.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Buyer in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of procurement principles, practices, and techniques.
  • Proven ability to negotiate contracts and manage supplier relationships.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills. 
  • Proficiency in using ERP systems and Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel).
  • Experience with electronics manufacturing is a plus.
  • Certification in purchasing (e.g., CPSM) is a plus.
